The U-slot linear motor has two parallel magnetic rails between the
metal plates and facing the coil mover. The mover is supported by the
guide rail system between the two magnetic rails. The mover is
non-steel, which means there is no suction and there is no interference
between the magnetic rail and the thrust coil. Non steel coil assembly
has small inertia and allows very high acceleration. The coil is
generally three-phase, brushless commutation. Performance enhancement
can be achieved by cooling the motor with air cooling. Water cooling is
also used. This design can reduce flux leakage better because the
magnets are face-to-face in the U-shaped guide groove. This design also
minimizes the damage caused by strong magnetic attraction
